About me

I'm an ordinary, athletic man in my forties from Eastern Europe—not a sage or guru, and the photo you see is fictional, not me. Amil Ecki is my spiritual pseudonym. After facing my own crisis, I turned to spirituality for meaning, not escape. I share my journey as a traveling companion, so no one has to weather life's storms alone.
Start

Hello. My name is Amil Ecki—a pseudonym I chose to reflect my spiritual journey. Behind this name is an ordinary man in his forties from Eastern Europe. You won’t find any psychology degrees, therapy certificates, or claims of being a self-proclaimed spiritual leader here. I am not a guru, sage, master, or any other kind of enlightened teacher. I don’t claim to have the answers to every question.

This blog is my personal space. It is a place where I share my thoughts, struggles, and my path through life’s storms. I have faced crises that shattered my world and made finding meaning feel impossible. But it was precisely those moments that forced me to stop and look deep within myself.

My Journey, Not a Prescription

My path to spirituality didn’t begin in the silence of a monastery, but right in the middle of life’s chaos—amidst pain, stress, and questions with no easy answers. I write more about this in my post “In Search of Meaning: Why This Blog Was Created”.

For me, spirituality isn’t an escape from reality. It is a toolkit for navigating it more wisely and fully. It is the art of combining profound insights with the realities of everyday life—work, relationships, and managing difficult emotions. My journey is ongoing. I am still learning, sometimes falling, but always getting back up with new experience.

Not a Guru, Just a Fellow Traveler

In a world full of guides and spiritual authorities, I want to make one thing clear—I am not here to lead or teach. I am here to walk alongside you. I believe that each of us is our own best guide, something I explored in the article “Be Your Own Guru”. The deepest wisdom comes from within.

I share my experiences not as a blueprint to follow, but as an invitation to reflect. My only hope is that my words might resonate with you, inspire you, or simply remind you that you are not alone on your path.

Feet Firmly on the Ground

Although this blog touches on spirituality, it is deeply rooted in practical life. I am a father, I work for a living, and just like my readers, I face the challenges of the modern world. I don’t levitate above my problems; I learn to face them with greater awareness.

The phrase “I am what I am” resonates on many levels and feels especially fitting for this space. In its deepest roots, the words echo the biblical “I am who I am” (“Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh”), the mysterious and profound name with which God revealed Himself to Moses—signifying timelessness, authenticity, and the acceptance of one’s true nature. In popular culture, Popeye the Sailor adopted a playful twist—“I yam what I yam”—reminding us to embrace ourselves as we are, with all our imperfections and quirks. For me, this blog sits at the intersection of these meanings: a place for honest self-acceptance, spiritual depth, and, just as importantly, a real-world, grounded approach to the challenges we all face. This is an honest record of my journey—far from perfect, but always real. And it’s open to anyone who might find something here for themselves.
